Reading: Eleni Sikelianos + Kate Colby

  • Gloucester Writers Center 126 East Main Street Gloucester, MA, 01930 United States (map)

Join us for an evening with poets Kate Colby and Eleni Sikelianos at the Writers Center!

Parking available at the North Shore Arts Association and on Chapel Street, both nearby.

Born in California on Walt Whitman’s birthday, Eleni Sikelianos is a poet, writer, and "a master of mixing genres" (TimeOut NY). She grew up in earshot of the ocean, in small coastal towns near Santa Barbara, and now lives in Providence. Deeply engaged with ecopoetics, her work takes up urgent concerns of environmental precarity and ancestral lineages. Your Kingdom (Winter 2023) will be her tenth book of poetry, riding alongside two memoir-verse-image-novels.

Kate Colby is author of nine books of poetry and lyric prose, including Reverse Engineer, which came out in fall 2022. She has received awards and fellowships from the Poetry Society of America, Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, the Dodd Research Center at University of Connecticut, and Harvard’s Woodberry Poetry Room. Recent work can be found in Chicago Review, Conjunctions, Fence, Lana Turner and The Nation. A sometime denizen of Gloucester, she currently lives, teaches, and works as a copywriter in Providence.
