Since its first iteration in 2013 to today, the Gloucester Writers Center’s “Moth”-like storytelling showcase has grown from a cozy evening among friends to one of the city’s best-loved events.

Each Fish Tales performance features local people telling true stories related to a specific theme. A volunteer storyteller-in-residence recruits the cast of storytellers, provides coaching, and curates each event, in collaboration with GWC staff.

In recent years, Fish Tales has been presented at Gloucester Stage, with occasional events at other venues around town. Ticket proceeds help to underwrite GWC’s free and low-cost readings, lectures, workshops, and open mics.
