How Do They Do That?

  • Meets Feb 1, 8, 15, 29 at the GWC 126 East Main Street Gloucester, MA, 01930 United States (map)

Ann McArdle’s celebrated workshop returns! More poring over selected stories to see how authors make them work, more in-class exercises to try some of the things we discuss, and also, this time you will generate one whole story—fiction or non-fiction. By the end of the month, you’ll have a full draft of a short piece and a round or two of revisions using what we’ve discovered from our readings about character, dialog, setting, language, metaphor, beginnings, endings, story shape, etc. Ready? Let’s go!

Please Note: Workshop meets four Thursday mornings: Feb 1, 8, 15, and 29 at the GWC.

Suggested workshop fee: $150
